CM to take final call on inclusion of regional languages in J-TET: Radha Krishna Kishore

Jharkhand Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore on Friday said that a final call on the inclusion of regional languages in the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test J-TET Examination will be taken by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.The minister said this after attending the second meeting of a five-member ministerial committee, for which he served as the coordinator.

Jharkhand Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore on Friday said that a final call on the inclusion of regional languages in the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (J-TET) Examination will be taken by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

The minister said this after attending the second meeting of a five-member ministerial committee, for which he served as the coordinator. The government recently constituted a high-level committee to review the inclusion of regional and local languages in the examination.

''The second meeting of the committee regarding the inclusion of regional languages, especially Bhojpuri, Magahi, and Angika in the J-TET examination was held today. We discussed the issue in detail, and a report will be submitted to chief minister in a day or two, after which he will make the final call,'' Kishore said.

''We want tribal languages to be respected, along with Bhojpuri, Magahi, and Angika,'' he added.

Meanwhile, sources said the committee members could not reach a consensus at the meeting due to differences over the issue with two JMM ministers who are part of it.

The committee's first meeting was held on Monday. Earlier on April 28, the cabinet gave post-facto approval to the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Examination Rules-2026.

The five-member ministerial committee was constituted earlier this month amid growing dissent over excluding the aforementioned three regional languages to deliberate and study language-related matters prescribed for various districts in the J-TET Eligibility Examination Rules.

The committee was tasked with making recommendations to the state government regarding the inclusion and deletion of tribal and regional languages in the said rules.

The other four members of the committee are Minister of Labour, Employment and Training Sanjay Prasad Yadav, Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, Water Resources Department Minister Yogendra Prasad and Higher and Technical Education Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu.

The School Education and Literacy Department was designated as the nodal department. It was responsible for organising the committee's meetings and providing the necessary documents and records for detailed deliberations.
