Lt Gen Harjeet Singh Sahi Takes Helm at Western Command, Pledges Operational Excellence

Lieutenant General Harjeet Singh Sahi assumed his new role as Chief of Staff at the Western Command headquarters in Chandimandir Military Station on Tuesday, according to the Defence Public Relations Officer. He succeeds Lieutenant General Puneet Ahuja, who is now the Director General of Strategic Planning at Army Headquarters.
Upon taking charge, Lt Gen Sahi paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the Veer Smriti War Memorial, reaffirming his dedication to improving operational readiness, capability development, and the welfare of personnel and veterans. His background includes significant operational experience across multiple strategic sectors, notably the Siachen Glacier and Jammu and Kashmir regions.
Lt Gen Sahi is noted for his command of 3 Corps, the largest in the Indian Army, covering the Eastern Borders and Indo-Myanmar region. He emphasized infrastructure improvements and stability in areas like Manipur. Previously, he enhanced military education as Commandant at the Army War College, Mhow, which received a Chief of the Army Staff Unit Appreciation under his tenure.
