On Tuesday, an IndiGo flight en route from Bengaluru to Chennai experienced an emergency evacuation following the detection of smoke within the cabin while taxiing for departure. According to the airline, the swift action was taken to ensure the safety of all onboard, evacuating passengers and crew to the terminal.
A spokesperson for IndiGo confirmed the smoke alert on flight 6E 6017, stating that relevant authorities were immediately informed. Passengers and crew were cared for by airport and airline personnel. A replacement aircraft was promptly arranged to continue the journey, with passengers receiving refreshments during the wait.
In a separate incident, an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Patna was delayed as the original aircraft developed a technical issue. Passengers were offered compensation options, including meals, refunds, or the chance to reschedule. The cause and length of the delay were not specified, but the airline apologized for the inconvenience.
