A fire engulfed the empty coaches of the Jaynagar-Udhna Antyodaya Express at Madhubani Railway Station in Bihar on Thursday. The train, situated at Platform No 3 for shunting operations, saw one of its coaches completely destroyed, triggering panic among those present.
According to officials, the train serves the route between Udhna and Jaynagar. The incident unfolded as the train was stationary, with Divisional Railway Manager Jyoti Prakash Mishra confirming that five departments—Safety, Electrical, Operations, and Security—are meticulously examining the incident. Investigations involve input from the public and railway employees who were on-site.
The probe will consider the involvement of anti-social elements and other factors, amidst reminders of a similar fire affecting five coaches of the Swatantrata Senani Express in 2022 at the same platform. Further details on the incident are awaited.
