Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acted swiftly in response to the devastating bridge collapse in the Kurara area of Hamirpur, where at least five workers lost their lives and several others are still feared trapped. The incident involved the collapse of a slab, pier, and shuttering structure during a severe storm at an under-construction site.
The Chief Minister's Office stated that CM Yogi expressed profound sadness over the loss of life, conveying condolences to the affected families. He directed senior officials to urgently proceed to the accident site and enhance relief and rescue operations in cooperation with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other agencies, ensuring comprehensive efforts to locate any remaining victims.
Authorities reported that rescue teams sprang into action immediately after learning of the collapse, which occurred around 2 am when a powerful storm swept through the region. Eyewitnesses and officials confirmed that multiple structural components of the bridge, including slabs and support pillars, failed, trapping workers beneath. The rescue mission continues amid hopes of finding more survivors.
