In a tragic incident, an under-construction bridge in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district collapsed during a severe storm, resulting in the deaths of at least five workers, while several others are feared trapped beneath the debris. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound sorrow over the fatalities and extended condolences to the families.

The Chief Minister promptly announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. He directed senior officials to expedite rescue efforts in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and ordered immediate medical care for the injured. Superintendent of Police Mrigank Shekhar Pathak confirmed that two bodies have been retrieved so far.

The collapse occurred at the Kandaur-Morakandar bridge in the Kurara region during a night shift, with torrential rain and violent winds cited as the likely cause. Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene, working tirelessly alongside the SDRF. The search continues amid fears of more casualties, and an investigation into the incident has commenced.
