The Assam government, spearheaded by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has initiated an ambitious employment drive titled 'Mission 2 Lakh Govt Jobs'. The program aims to generate two lakh government jobs within five years, targeting unemployed youth across various state departments, autonomous bodies, and societies.
During the administration's inaugural cabinet meeting, a decision was made to establish a task force under the guidance of the Chief Secretary to scrutinize job vacancies. This task force has a three-month deadline to report back, ensuring the electoral commitment of job creation is met efficiently.
Chief Minister Sarma emphasized urgency in delivering these promises, with processes already in motion to map vacancies and develop strategic timelines. Recent reviews, led by Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, focus on vacancy identification, recruitment process refinement, and bolstering job opportunities in remote areas through policy incentives, aligning with broader self-employment and entrepreneurship initiatives.
