Assam and Meghalaya Leaders Vow to Accelerate Border Resolution

The Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya have recommitted to resolving their states' border dispute, focusing on expediting the demarcation process and fostering collaboration. Discussions aim for a comprehensive solution, enhancing peace along the border shared by the two northeastern states.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Meghalaya's Conrad K Sangma have resolved to intensify efforts toward settling their long-standing border dispute. During discussions in Guwahati, the two leaders reaffirmed their dedication to resolving the boundary demarcation and fostering ongoing dialogue.

Sarma noted their progress on enduring issues. In a shared sentiment, Sangma expressed thanks for Sarma's commitment to easing tensions and creating a permanent solution. The states have historically disputed 12 areas along a lengthy inter-state boundary, addressing them now in the initiative's second phase.
