Union Home Minister Amit Shah is gearing up for a comprehensive two-day visit to the Northeast, beginning on Thursday, with a packed agenda focused on border security review and pivotal discussions on regional development and space technology applications.

In an announcement on the social media platform X, Shah detailed his plan to visit the crucial India-Bangladesh border in Tripura and engage directly with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, underscoring the importance of fortifying border ties and ensuring national security.

The visit will include chairing key high-level meetings of the North Eastern Council (NEC) and the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) in Shillong. These sessions will bring together prominent figures, including Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Chief Ministers from the eight Northeastern states, to foster a collaborative approach towards regional growth and innovation.

The agenda also includes a significant plenary session on June 4, 2026, where critical issues around regional development - from agriculture to tourism and infrastructure - will be debated. The session aims to ensure targeted actions in alignment with the North East Vision Plan 2047, envisioning a future of sustainable economic growth and cultural prosperity for the region.
