Advocate Rinki Chatterjee Singh filed a complaint against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Siliguri Cyber Police Station on Thursday. Singh accuses Banerjee of making public statements that are both provocative and defamatory towards key constitutional institutions and security agencies of India.
The complaint alleges that Banerjee, through various public speeches and media interactions, has attacked institutions such as the Election Commission of India and the Central Armed Forces, questioning their neutrality and integrity. Singh claims that these statements are designed to foster public distrust and disaffection towards these entities.
Furthermore, Singh's complaint references a speech made on June 2, where Banerjee is accused of linking the Union Government to a political killing in Bangladesh, purportedly aiming to damage the international image of the Indian government and incite hostility between India and Bangladesh. The complaint also revisits a prior FIR filed against Banerjee for allegedly derogatory statements against Sanatan Dharma, which has purportedly hurt religious sentiments.
