The tragic fire incident in Malviya Nagar, which claimed 21 lives, is currently under investigation by the Delhi police, according to Chief Fire Officer AK Malik. The fire, which broke out on the ground floor, trapped occupants due to the building's design flaws. Escape was nearly impossible as all windows were sealed, and only one staircase was available despite building regulations requiring two.

The immediate aftermath saw Delhi's Lieutenant Governor convening a high-level meeting. A high-powered committee led by the district's DM, including officials from the MCD and Delhi police, will now conduct a survey of similar structures to prevent future tragedies.

The Saket Court on Thursday remanded Lovkesh Bajaj, owner of Flourish Stays Hotel, to police custody. Bajaj faces charges under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including culpable homicide and negligent conduct with fire, following his arrest by Delhi Police.
