In the face of challenging weather and high altitudes, the Health Department has sprung into action during the Kedarnath Yatra in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district. Numerous pilgrims have experienced health issues, while others have been injured in accidents.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with 72 individuals already airlifted from Kedarnath Dham to medical facilities. District hospitals, as well as higher medical centres like AIIMS, are receiving those in critical condition. District Magistrate Vishal Mishra emphasizes the department's readiness and proactive measures amid these challenges.
Officials have laid out precautionary measures and temporarily halted pilgrim movements to Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Hemkund Sahib due to consistent rainfall in the region. Vehicles are stopped at Srinagar's Garhwal under the observation of the authorities, who are monitoring weather and road conditions to ensure safety before resuming the journey.
