In a vibrant display of community spirit and social responsibility, Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta flagged off a Mini Marathon from Shimla's historic Ridge Ground in commemoration of World Environment Day. The initiative, a collaborative effort by the Himachal Pradesh Police, the Department of Environment, Science, Technology and Climate Change, and the Census Directorate, aimed at promoting a 'Clean Environment and Chitta-Free Life.'
The marathon drew an enthusiastic crowd from Himachal Pradesh and neighboring regions, encompassing a diverse range of participants including members of the Central Armed Police Forces, students, senior citizens, and specially-abled individuals. The event served as a dual campaign: educating the public on drug abuse while fostering awareness about environmental preservation, public health, and social responsibility. Participants also gained insights into the ongoing Self-Enumeration Campaign run by the Census Department.
Emphasizing the challenges posed by drug abuse, Governor Gupta praised the Himachal Pradesh Police for their innovative outreach efforts and called for collective societal action to combat narcotics, urging, ‘Himachal Pradesh can become drug-free when society unites.’ Lauding the marathon's public engagement, he reiterated the significance of individual and family commitment to cleanliness and sustainable living, reinforcing these ideals through a public pledge.
