IIT Roorkee has firmly refuted allegations of a data breach linked to JEE (Advanced) aspirants, calling these claims 'misleading and factually incorrect.' In a recent statement shared on social media, the prestigious institution stressed that misinformation about a data compromise is circulating with no basis in fact.
The statement clarified that on June 2, 2026, technical measures were swiftly implemented to address issues with admit card access and registration. These efforts led to a brief misconfiguration in a cloud storage setup. An ethical hacker detected the issue, which was quickly rectified, ensuring restricted data access.
IIT Roorkee assured that the affected storage was read-only, preventing data modification or deletion. No significant data extraction occurred, with less than 0.05% read access. The event had no impact on exam outcomes or candidates' information. The institution vowed to uphold the integrity of the JEE and JoSAA processes, urging against efforts to misrepresent this incident.
