Lingamaneni Ramesh of the Jana Sena Party (JSP) has officially thrown his hat in the ring for a Rajya Sabha seat. Filing his nomination on Saturday, he was accompanied by endorsements from party president and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing the media, Ramesh expressed deep gratitude to the party and its leadership for this opportunity. "I am grateful to be supported by JSP and its president, Honorable Deputy Chief Minister Shri Pawan Kalyan Garu," he said, extending special thanks to Modi and Naidu. His nomination follows Pawan Kalyan's Friday announcement of his candidature.
Ramesh has been closely associated with the Jana Sena Party since 2015, aligning with Pawan Kalyan's vision for the state. Despite setbacks like the 2019 assembly elections, Ramesh has maintained his support for the party, underscored by a commitment to social harmony and balanced development, according to a party release.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has rolled out the notification for biennial elections to 24 Rajya Sabha seats across ten states. The elections will fill four seats each in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat, among others, with a nomination deadline set for June 8.
Additionally, by-elections have been announced for one Rajya Sabha seat each in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha.
