In a harrowing turn of events, a man in Odisha's Bhubaneswar has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman after falsely promising her a job, police confirmed on Tuesday. The accused, Himansu Samal, aged 36, allegedly blackmailed the victim by threatening to release compromising images taken without her consent.

The distressing incident surfaced when the victim, a 23-year-old woman, reported the assault at Dhauli Police Station on June 7. According to officials, the accused had convinced the woman to accompany him under the pretense of job assistance, later coercing her into a hotel where the crime transpired along the NH route near Pipili police station.

After receiving the complaint, DCP Bhubaneswar Jagmohan Meena revealed that a special team was promptly assembled, and Samal was apprehended. During the arrest, police seized critical evidence, including a mobile phone. The authorities are investigating the accused's involvement in a broader job scam that allegedly involved extracting money from unsuspecting victims under false pretenses.
