Navneet Rana, former MP from Amravati, clarified her stance amid rumors about her potential nomination to the Rajya Sabha, asserting her unwavering commitment to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rana emphasized her dedication to working under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, rejecting any ideological shift for a political position.
Despite the endorsement from Sunetra and Parth Pawar for her Rajya Sabha candidacy, Rana expressed gratitude but declined the offer due to its requirement for her to join the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). She recounted a meeting with Sunetra Pawar at Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's residence, where she conveyed her refusal to accept the NCP's condition.
Rana's statement surfaces amid political maneuvering over Rajya Sabha seats in Maharashtra. The Election Commission announced elections for 24 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states on June 18, along with by-elections in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Her decision underscores the ongoing alliance dynamics and political calculations in the state.
