On Tuesday, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee decried the West Bengal CID's presence at Mamata Banerjee's residence, calling it a 'vindictive' move orchestrated by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Speaking to ANI, Banerjee condemned the CID's actions as unlawful and insisted there’s no legal basis for the visit.
Banerjee emphasized that no First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Mamata Banerjee, nor has she been summoned as a witness in any legal proceedings, suggesting political motives behind the CID's actions aimed at harassing the former Chief Minister.
The CID visit to Mamata Banerjee's home follows their previous engagement at the residence of TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee concerning a signature forgery investigation. The state CID is probing alleged forgeries involving TMC legislators with statements recorded from 13 MLAs, as the investigation intensifies.
