Harmony and Faith: Devotees Flock to 30th Annual Urs of Sufi Saint Baji Shafi Sahib

The 30th Annual Urs of Sufi Saint Baji Shafi Sahib concluded with significant devotion at the hilltop shrine in Nanga Thub, Rajouri. The 30th Annual Urs of the revered Sufi Saint Baji Shafi Sahib concluded amidst profound religious fervor at the hilltop shrine in Nanga Thub, a remote area in Rajouri district's Khawas region. Celebrated according to the Islamic calendar, this event drew thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the nation.

The four-day spiritual gathering, commencing on June 12 and concluding on June 14, was marked by special prayers led by prominent Ulema and religious scholars. Reflecting a message of communal harmony and brotherhood, the shrine welcomed people of various faiths, who participated in the community Langar, sharing meals and goodwill.

Under the stewardship of Baji Aslam Sahib, the son and custodian of the late Sufi Saint Baji Shafi Sahib, the Urs festival underscores themes of faith, unity, and service to humanity. Located in the picturesque Nanga Thub, the shrine remains a year-round attraction for spiritual and tourist audiences, offering solace and blessings to visitors.

During the solemn concluding ceremonies, attendees prayed for peace and communal harmony across Jammu and Kashmir, and nationwide prosperity. Religious leaders called for societal reforms, including efforts to protect the younger generation from drug abuse, advocating for a drug-free society.

Speaking to ANI, Maulana Farooq Naqshbandi, President of Ulama-e-Ahle-Sunnat, highlighted new tourism projects to boost the area's prominence on the tourism map, underscoring the region's unique narrative of peace and brotherhood as a beacon within India’s diverse landscape.
