Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced on Monday that the state's welfare schemes will remain uninterrupted and will target genuine beneficiaries through improved verification methods designed to curtail fraud and misuse. Shivakumar underscored the government's commitment to implementing these programs effectively, despite criticisms from the Opposition.

The Chief Minister pointed out that some cases of misuse had emerged, such as incorrect photographs and fake mobile numbers being used. Emphasizing the importance of transparency, he stated that the schemes are exclusively for Karnataka residents, ensuring public funds directly aid those in need.

To further safeguard the schemes, a card-based authentication system for benefits like free bus travel is being introduced. Rejecting rumors of discontinuation, Shivakumar affirmed the schemes' role in empowering women and supporting families. He also mentioned measures to curb fraudulent lending related to these programs.
