BMC seeks 'most urgent' review of audit report of 157 Mumbai bridges

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has directed one of their consultants to carry out inspections and review the structural audit report of 157 bridges in Mumbai within one month and submit the same with a detailed investigation on a 'most urgent' basis.

Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta had on Friday suspended two civic engineers and ordered an inquiry against them in connection with the foot overbridge collapse incident which claimed six lives.

He also ordered a departmental inquiry against the two engineers besides an executive engineer and two retired chief engineers of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
