Deputy President to officiate Handover ceremony on Gamopedi, Seoding land claims

The Presidential Handover ceremony will be held at the Seoding Sports Ground, next to Ga ba Jantjies Tribal Authority, Kuruman.

Deputy President David Mabuza, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Land Reform, will on Tuesday, 16 April 2019, officiate at the Presidential Handover ceremony on settled and finalised Gamopedi and Seoding land claims in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District, Kuruman, Northern Cape Province.

The Presidential Handover ceremony will be held at the Seoding Sports Ground, next to Ga ba Jantjies Tribal Authority, Kuruman. 

In this regard, the Deputy President will officially hand over title deeds to the Gamopedi and Seoding communities based on the finalised and settled land claims.

As part of the Land Reform Programme led by the government, both the GaMopedi and Seoding communities have received about 9000 hectares of land which will be utilised for agricultural production.

The Presidential Handover ceremony will mark a significant milestone in the restoration of land rights and dignity to those who were dispossessed of their land under the Native Land Act of 1913.

Deputy President David Mabuza will be supported by the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane and other senior government officials.
