Fact check: Did Hong Kong air traffic controllers threaten strike to disrupt flights?
Hundreds of Hong Kongers, including flight attendants, held a rally in the airport's arrival hall on Friday to "educate" visitors about the demonstrations currently gripping the international finance hub as it braces for another weekend of protests. But as the protesters were going on, a "statement" by Hong Kong air traffic controllers threatening strike went viral on several social media platforms.
The statement urged the Hong Kong government to give a "positive response" to the five demands by the protesters and threatened an uncooperative movement if the response is not satisfactory.
However, the statement could not be immediately verified but some local platforms have reported that Lawmaker Jeremy Tam has also reiterated the statement.
Just in: Local air traffic controllers say in their statement they will "taking further actions such as uncooperative movement" if the govt still refuses to give a proper response regarding the five demands Hong Kong people have raised over the months. #antiELAB #ExtraditionLaw pic.twitter.com/gJg6eKL6bs
