A huge fire that broke out at North Oil Company of Iraq on Thursday morning has been brought under control. The thick black plumes of smoke were reported over and around the company which is located in the disputed province of Kirkuk.

According to a post on North Oil Company's Facebook page, the fire broke out on the grass and the dust storm helped it in reaching near the refinery and the old concentration stations.

Director of the Human Resources Development and Management Authority, Mohsen Abdulnabi Hussein confirmed that the fire was brought under control by the efforts of the company's cadre and the support of the civil defense teams of the Directorate of Kirkuk.

There were no significant losses at oil stations.

The North Oil Company is one of the 16 companies comprising the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. Headquartered in Kirkuk, its boundaries extend from the northern borders to the 32.5 degrees parallel, just south of Baghdad.
