A sudden outbreak of diarrhoea has swept through Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district, with 32 new cases reported, bringing the total to 242, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The epidemic has expanded to 12 villages within five gram panchayats, encompassing a population of approximately 4,550 residents. Chief Medical Officer Dr. R K Agnihotri highlighted that while 103 patients have been discharged after treatment, 14 remain hospitalised, and 125 are receiving home treatment.

In response, health department teams are monitoring water quality and advising residents to consume only boiled water. This comes after previous outbreaks in March and June, which affected over 1,000 individuals combined in the region.
