The Congress-led UDF launched a sharp critique against Kerala's Left government on Tuesday, accusing it of failing to curb the spread of epidemics, with a notable rise in communicable diseases, including a spike in viral hepatitis cases in Malappuram.

During the zero hour, the UDF demanded a detailed discussion on the matter, but Health Minister Veena George refuted the claims, detailing the government's extensive measures to control the spread.

Despite her explanations, the motion was dismissed by Speaker A.N. Shamseer, leading the UDF to stage a protest walkout. George cited factors like year-long rains and climate changes but assured that continuous preventive steps are in place, including over 21,000 cleanliness drives and rapid response teams.
