A 27-year-old woman, Rakhi, successfully underwent a life-saving surgery at Max Hospital, Patparganj, to remove a large lemon-sized cardiac tumour, highlighting the expertise of the medical team.
The tumour had broken apart, with a fragment reaching her brain and causing a stroke. Dr Vaibhav Mishra, Director and Head of CTVS Cardiac Surgery at Max Super Speciality Hospital, led the procedure, avoiding conventional open-heart surgery for a minimally invasive approach.
Dr Vivek Kumar, Senior Director of Neuro Sciences, emphasized the importance of prompt diagnosis, reporting that the patient made a full recovery and was discharged four days post-surgery, underscoring the success of the intervention.
