Resident doctors at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital began an indefinite strike Monday morning, demanding improved security after a teenager shot and killed a patient in the hospital ward during treatment.
The shocking incident occurred on Sunday, when 32-year-old Riyazuddin, admitted for an abdominal infection, was shot dead by a teenager, prompting the Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) to protest.
Despite emergency services being operational, all other departments, including outpatient services and laboratories, have been shut down. The RDA expressed that previous security promises made by the hospital administration were not fulfilled, leading to the present dire situation that endangers their lives.
