In response to increasing violence at hospitals, the Delhi government is set to deploy two armed guards and metal detectors at emergency entries, Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj announced on Monday. This decision follows a meeting with the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) and a recent fatal shooting incident at GTB Hospital.

The meeting was prompted by the tragic death of a 32-year-old man inside a hospital ward due to mistaken identity, which led to the arrest of two suspects. FAIMA officials, including the National Chairman and General Secretary, have pushed for urgent security measures.

Saurabh Bharadwaj stated that he will request the Delhi police commissioner to assign a constable for continuous duty at hospitals and review the Standard Operating Procedures. Additional measures include legal action against assaulters and improved CCTV surveillance, FAIMA Chairman Rohan Krishnan emphasized the need for strong actions to ensure doctors' safety.
