Ravindran Nair, a 59-year-old man, faced a harrowing 42-hour entrapment in the lift of a major government hospital over the weekend. During this ordeal, Nair wrote a farewell note to his family, fearing the worst.

Nair was initially headed to the outpatient department when the lift malfunctioned. Devoid of water and immobilized, he resorted to using his mobile phone's torch to draft the note. He shared his anxiety over his children's future and the lack of water, highlighting the poems that helped distract him.

His rescue came when the lift operator resumed duty on Monday, igniting a public outcry. The Kerala State Human Rights Commission demanded an investigation report within 15 days. Kerala Health Minister Veena George pledged strict action and suspended three staff members after a preliminary inquiry.
