Kerala Health Minister Veena George confirmed on Saturday that a 14-year-old boy from Malappuram district has tested positive for Nipah virus infection.

George informed the media that the National Institute of Virology in Pune had validated the infection. Currently, the boy is under treatment at a private hospital and will be shifted to the Kozhikode government medical college.

High-risk contacts have been isolated and are undergoing testing, and comprehensive precautionary measures have been initiated in the epicenter, Pandikkad. Thirty isolation rooms and a 24-hour control room have been established to manage the situation.
