BJP MP Dr. C N Manjunath has called for a shift in focus from the construction of medical institutions to the creation of posts and recruitment within the health sector. During a parliamentary discussion on the Health Ministry’s Demand for Grants, he stressed the necessity of bolstering existing hospitals with sufficient manpower and technicians.

Manjunath pointed out India's extensive talent pool of around 14 lakh allopathic doctors and five lakh Ayush doctors, while also identifying the need for an additional three lakh doctors. He advocated for innovative approaches like establishing postgraduate medical colleges with lower initial costs.

Raising concerns about the susceptibility of young and middle-aged Indians to non-communicable diseases, Manjunath emphasized the importance of adequate medical training and practical experience. He demanded increased salaries for staff nurses, establishment of more AIIMS institutions, and overall infrastructural development.
