The National Health Authority (NHA) has reached a significant milestone, generating a remarkable four crore tokens for out-patient department (OPD) registrations through the ABHA-based Scan and Share service. This accomplishment falls under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), launched in October 2022.
This innovative paperless service has revolutionized healthcare for vulnerable groups, including the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with mobility challenges, by eliminating lengthy queues. The service operates across 8,270 healthcare facilities in 579 districts across 35 states and Union Territories of India, with an average daily usage of 2.2 lakh individuals.
Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Jammu and Kashmir lead the adoption, contributing significantly to the 76% of first-time users. The NHA offers financial incentives through the Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) to further drive adoption among hospitals and technology providers.
