Tragic Cholera Outbreak Claims Lives at Indore Ashram

A three-year-old girl, residing at the Shri Yugpurush Dham Bal Ashram in Indore, has succumbed to cholera, raising the facility's death toll to 11 amid a recent outbreak, officials reported on Tuesday.

Dr Preeti Malpani, superintendent of Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, confirmed that the girl's family admitted her in a critical state on August 3. Suffering from dehydration, vomiting, and diarrhea, despite medical efforts, she did not survive.

An administrative probe highlighted serious inadequacies at the ashram, including overcrowding and poor maintenance of medical records. Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari criticized the handling of the situation, calling for legal action against the ashram's management.
