Union Minister of State for Health Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav has launched the second phase of the bi-annual Nationwide Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaign aimed at eradicating Lymphatic Filariasis.
Targeting 63 endemic districts spanning Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Odisha, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh, the campaign will administer preventive medications door-to-door, reinforcing India's commitment to eliminate the disease ahead of the global deadline.
During his keynote address, Jadhav stressed the importance of the MDA rounds in stopping the transmission of this mosquito-borne disease and reaffirmed the government's commitment to public health. He highlighted the necessity for 90 percent coverage of eligible populations and mentioned future efforts for vaccine development. Jadhav applauded the contributions of various stakeholders and marked the launch by consuming the medication himself.
