In a significant move to enhance healthcare accessibility, Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated the 'Aarogya doctors on wheels' initiative in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district. This initiative aims to deliver free medical services to villagers in remote areas directly at their doorsteps.
Addressing an exhibition on the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) in Udhampur, Singh elaborated on how this mobile ambulance service can complete patient examinations and provide prescriptions within 45 minutes. This is a substantial improvement considering the time normally taken for hospital visits.
Singh emphasized the inclusivity of the initiative, noting that patients can communicate their issues in their native languages, to which the doctors respond similarly. He called for more CSR contributions to sustain and grow this healthcare start-up so that it can benefit more people. During his visit, Singh interacted with women self-help groups and startups, highlighting how the DAY-NRLM programme empowers women and promotes self-employment among the youth. He also discussed ongoing infrastructure developments aimed at improving connectivity in remote areas.
