Healthcare services in West Bengal faced major disruptions on Wednesday as doctors sustained their cease-work, rallying against the rape and murder of a fellow woman doctor. The prolonged protest resulted in long queues at outpatient department (OPD) ticket counters in government hospitals, with senior physicians joining their junior counterparts.

Private hospitals also took a stance, shutting down their OPD services to show solidarity with the protesting junior doctors at state-operated facilities. 'Attempts are being made to protect certain individuals. Evidence appears to be tampered with through construction on the same floor at RG Kar Hospital where our colleague was victimized,' claimed an agitated doctor.

Leading the call for a cease-work across all government and private hospitals, the West Bengal Joint Platform of Doctors saw both junior and senior doctors, as well as other staff, donning black armbands and chanting slogans for justice. 'Emergency services continue, but our protest is crucial to secure justice,' stated a protester. Similar scenes unfolded across major medical facilities, reinforcing a unified demand for justice.
