Nepal's Foreign Minister Arzu Deuba Rana is reportedly set to travel to India next week for a health checkup, according to local media reports on Thursday.
Rana, who is married to Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, is expected to depart for Delhi on Sunday or Monday. Foreign ministry sources indicated that her visit to the Indian capital is for a follow-up medical examination related to her prior surgery for hyperparathyroidism.
Although there is no official confirmation of her trip, Ekraj Pathak, press advisor to the foreign minister, stated that he had no information on the matter. Efforts to obtain confirmation from the Foreign Ministry spokesperson were also unsuccessful.
The visit is strictly for health purposes, with Rana potentially meeting only a few high-ranking officials, including India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
