Doctors in Delhi, demonstrating inside their hospitals, have rallied for a massive protest outside Nirman Bhawan. Their indefinite strike follows the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata and has entered its fifth day, suspending all elective services.

Nirman Bhawan, located near Parliament in Lutyens' Delhi, houses the Ministry of Health and other departments.

Resident doctors have gathered on the side of the road outside Nirman Bhawan amid heavy police presence and barricades.

Doctors brandished posters and banners, chanting slogans like 'We want justice' and 'No safety, no duty,' expressing their anger over safety concerns.

Dr Rahul, a resident doctor, conveyed the collective grief and anger, stating, 'It's unimaginable that a doctor, someone dedicated to saving lives, was brutally raped and murdered. Our demands for justice and protective measures are essential.'

More roads are being blocked as additional doctors arrive, holding the Indian flag and demanding justice.

Six members of a delegation have gone inside Nirman Bhawan to meet with government officials as the protesting doctors sit on the road.

This protest decision followed a comprehensive joint meeting of multiple resident doctors' associations (RDAs) on the eve of Independence Day, including representatives from AIIMS, SIH, MAMC, and others.

The associations aim to implement a central protection Act to safeguard healthcare workers across the nation.

While elective services are halted, essential emergency services, like ICUs and emergency procedures, will continue uninterrupted.

RDAs stressed that the protest is not only a demand for justice but a call to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of healthcare workers.
