Perdue Foods is recalling more than 167,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets and tenders after customers reported finding metal wire embedded in the products.

The recall involves three products: Perdue Breaded Chicken Tenders, Butcher Box Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets, and Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets. According to the company and the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the contamination affects 167,171 pounds of these products.

Jeff Shaw, Perdue's senior vice president of food safety and quality, stated in a press release that the recall was initiated out of an abundance of caution, following the discovery of a thin strand of metal wire in consumer packages. No injuries or adverse reactions have been reported. Consumers are urged to check their freezers and either discard the affected products or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
