Sitaram Yechury Hospitalized with Pneumonia

Sitaram Yechury, the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday evening after experiencing a high fever, sources confirmed.

According to hospital sources, Yechury's admittance was due to pneumonia. He was initially taken to the emergency department.

Although the exact nature of his illness was not disclosed by the hospital, a CPI(M) source indicated that he had previously gone for a checkup and was subsequently hospitalized for pneumonia. The source reassured that Yechury is currently undergoing treatment and is in good condition.

''There is nothing serious, he has been admitted due to pneumonia,'' the source said. This follows Yechury's recent cataract surgery.
