RML Doctors Call Off Strike; Supreme Court Steps In

Resident doctors at the central government-run RML Hospital have called off their nine-day strike, which was organized in response to the alleged rape and murder of a medic in Kolkata. The decision follows the Supreme Court's intervention, forming a task force to devise a national protocol for doctors' safety.

The Centre, accepting all demands from doctors across India, has assured enhanced security measures at medical institutions, to be implemented within 45 days. The Ministry of Health also pledged to tighten security at all central government hospitals and issue advisories to state governments.

While doctors agreed to suspend their strike and resume duties by 4 pm, they remain committed to advocating for justice in the R G Kar case. The Federation of Resident Doctors' Association and FAIMA welcomed the Supreme Court's intervention, emphasizing ongoing consultations with stakeholders.
