Shailender Singh, 45, who lived with a bullet lodged dangerously close to his heart for 16 years, has finally undergone a successful surgery to remove it at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket.

In 2008, Singh was shot and had sought multiple opinions from specialists in Kanpur, who advised against surgery due to the bullet's precarious position near vital structures such as his heart and lungs. Despite non-surgical treatment keeping him symptom-free for years, his condition worsened last year.

Dr. Shaiwal Khandelwal, who performed the emergency surgery, revealed that the bullet caused substantial bleeding and damage to Singh’s lung. Singh's condition has significantly improved post-surgery, and he is now recovering.
