The centrally administered JIPMER hospital in Puducherry was shaken by a bomb threat received via email on Tuesday night. The authorities quickly referred the matter to the cyber crime police, who escalated the situation by lodging an official complaint.

Acting swiftly under pressure, a police team and the bomb detection and disposal squad were dispatched. Precautionary measures included evacuating all patients and staff, including doctors and nurses, from the premises as an extensive search operation commenced.

Senior officers continued to investigate the origin of the email. Despite the scare, the exhaustive search ended without any suspicious materials being found, confirming it as a hoax. However, efforts to identify the perpetrator remain ongoing.
