Anti-vaxxers now among top dangerous diseases, WHO declares
World Health Organization has recently released a list of the biggest threats to the world in 2019. The list contains the high-risk factors each year that are meant to be used as a reference by those that want to be healthy.
List released by the World Health Organization includes Ebola that reached resurgence with several outbreaks taking place in 2018. Even dengue fever is also on the list for becoming a consistent threat with more than 390 million every year.
Several diseases are mentioned in the list released by WHO that are considered quite dangerous while some others are preventable. However, the entry of anti-vaxxers in the list for the first time has attracted everyone's attention and led to severe debates on the web world.
WHO has already mentioned anti-vaxxers in the list of the most dangerous diseases in the world. "Vaccine hesitancy– the reluctance or refusal to vaccinate despite the availability of vaccines, threatens to reverse progress made in tackling vaccine-preventable diseases. Some countries that were close to eliminating [diseases] have seen a resurgence," WHO wrote in the release.
Apart from mentioning the dangerous diseases, WHO clarified why vaccinations are crucial in the prevention of the disease. "Vaccination is one of the most cost-effective ways of avoiding disease. It currently prevents 2-3 million deaths a year, and a further 1.5 million could be avoided if global coverage of vaccinations improved," the release wrote.
Other threats to make WHO's list are climate change, air pollution and a global flu pandemic.
