India's First Centre to Combat Tech Addiction in Youth

A pioneering center for addressing internet and technology addiction among children and youth will be established at AIIMS, Delhi. Approved by ICMR, the Centre for Advanced Research on Addictive Behaviours aims to develop interventions targeting excessive technology use, alongside creating resources for educators and health workers to mitigate related issues.

India is set to establish its first centre dedicated to combating internet and technology addiction among children and youth, located at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the establishment of the Centre for Advanced Research on Addictive Behaviours, aiming to address the increasing public health concern of technology overuse.

Led by Dr. Yatan Pal Singh Balhara, the initiative will focus on creating evidence-based interventions, including screening, prevention, and early detection. The centre plans to collaborate with schools, colleges, and medical institutions to form a national network addressing tech-related addictions.
