Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the urgent need to expand Victoria Hospital, a government-run facility attracting patients nationwide, during a surprise inspection. Highlighting the hospital's free services, Siddaramaiah noted overcrowding as a significant issue requiring immediate attention.
On his visit, Siddaramaiah spoke with patients who praised the hospital staff for their care. He assured that plans are underway to increase the hospital's gastroenterology department from 120 to 300 beds, aiming to better manage the influx of patients seeking affordable medical assistance.
In response to concerns about ambulance availability, the Chief Minister urged reliance on the government's 108 services. The Medical Education Minister, Sharan Prakash Patil, hinted at its revival. Siddaramaiah also inspected Vani Vilas Hospital, where over 40 deliveries occur daily, highlighting the scale of healthcare demand.
