In a fiery session at the Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu leveled serious accusations at the previous BJP administration over the administration of the Himcare health insurance scheme.
During the proceedings, BJP member Vinod Kumar voiced concerns about patients struggling to get free treatment under the scheme, with some allegedly mortgaging valuables to cover medical expenses.
Health Minister Dhaniram Shandil acknowledged outstanding liabilities exceeding Rs 364 crore. Sukhu further alleged misuse of Himcare funds and irregularities benefiting private hospitals, triggering a walkout by opposition members amid the uproarious atmosphere.
