Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh actively participated in overseeing the administration of Zolgensma, a life-saving gene therapy injection costing Rs 16 crore, administered to a baby girl diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy in Kurnool district.

The family of the infant was able to collect Rs 10 crore through social media campaigns but were still short of Rs 6 crore, which was met with support from Lokesh. This effort marked a crucial step in the child's battle against the rare genetic disorder.

Lokesh also played a significant role in facilitating the import of the costly injection from the U.S. and ensuring smooth coordination among various stakeholders, including hospital authorities, the pharmaceutical company, and regulatory bodies to expedite the process, thereby eliminating potential delays.
