The Andhra Pradesh government has made a significant move to ensure accountability in its healthcare system by permanently dismissing 51 doctors over unauthorized absences. Announced by Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, this action underscores the state's zero-tolerance policy on negligence among medical professionals.
Minister Yadav detailed that among those dismissed are eight Associate Professors, 41 Assistant Professors, and two Tutors, some of whom had been absent for several years. This strict action was a result of continuous negligence, despite numerous attempts by the authorities to prompt the doctors to explain their prolonged absenteeism.
Yadav emphasized that non-compliance with official duties gravely impacted patient care, a situation that cannot be tolerated. To address staffing shortages and improve healthcare services, the government is advancing with recruitments under its zero vacancy policy.
